The Art of Organization

Something each and every one of us is magnificent at doing is collecting things. Nice things, junky things, all sorts of things. With each passing year, maybe even month, we think to ourselves how nice it would be to have a little more space for all of our things.

What many of us fail to recognize is how beautiful many of the things we use on a day-to-day basis can be. Racking our brains on ideas of how to store and hide away these items is often completely unnecessary. Men in particular are in possession of little works of art that are begging to be shown off.

Take your shoes for example.  I'm not talking about your sneakers or your Air Jordans (well... maybe I'm talking about your Air Jordans), I'm talking about your dress shoes with finely crafted leather soles, your suede fire engine red drivers, and of course your beautifully aged Red Wing boots. Now take these skillfully crafted beauties and try lining them down the edge of your stairs. Not only will it be easy to see your shoes and grab them on the go but when done right, it makes for quite the statement.

Hats are very much the same. Your wool ones would create a classic look in a gallery fashion on any wall, including down your steps. Books and records have an endless number of creative and aesthetically beautiful ways to be displayed.

Don't stop there, other items you should be gladly displaying are: pretty much anything leather, your liquor collection and bar accessories (on a snazzy bar cart of course), and even pots and pans in your kitchen. If you're feeling daring, how about adorning your wall with your cruiser bike? Antique coat hooks are a staple for any gentlemen, setting the perfect stage for your best coats, scarves, and hats. The possibilities are limitless as long as you're approaching your new storage methods with an artful eye. It's about finding those special pieces and letting them become part of your room. For more inspiration check out my Pinterest board Artful Organization.

I would love to see and hear any ideas you have for artful organization. And for those of you looking for a creative way to display and organize some of your items but are feeling little unsure on where to start, please send me an email to mhbycarleen@gmail.com and we will find the perfect solution!

Happy & beautiful organizing to all!
