Knobs For All Of The Jobs

It’s been a little chaotic lately… but amidst all the chaos and the projects it brought with it, one thing is really sticking with me. What is this thing you ask? It’s hardware! Folks, hardware is the best thing to happen to the world. Well, the design world at least.

Hanging on to an outdated dresser? Kitchen cabinets looking a little dull? Fear not, a simple hardware swap in the answer to your woes. This super easy improvement brings new life to whatever it is you’re updating and the best news? It will barely make a dent in that pretty, little wallet of yours.

Take this great midcentury modern nightstand I found on Wayfair:

It’s almost perfect but those round, chrome knobs didn’t quite do it for me. BUT this nightstand was at the right price point, so I didn’t bat an eye.

Instead, I hit Hobby Lobby and swapped out the hardware with these awesome geometric, gold knobs. $7 and a couple twists of a screw later, these nightstands look significantly better and more expensive.

Just one more example… I have this gorgeous cabinet I was using as a nightstand, but with a recent move, I decided to change its use to a liquor cabinet/ bar. With its new found persona, I thought this cabinet was deserving of a little more pizzaz. Off with the old hardware and on with the new!

Again, this little change makes such a huge difference. While this piece was beautiful to begin with, swapping out the hardware still adds value by making it more interesting and brings in some warmer elements.

Hardware is easy to find. Most of your favorite retailers carry a vast array of options for all of your hardware swapping needs. Just search for “knobs”, “pulls”, or “hardware”: Check out a few of my favorites below:
